Perfect Product Placement

An ad for Subway taken in the subway. I always thought the bread at Subway was atrocious and I'm not spending my precious euros to figure out whether it's any better here. The claim here is "prepared before your eyes." No comment on the taste.

The only problem with the product placement is that a fair percentage of French folks might not know the English equivalent of Métro. Who would go to a Subway when there are so many other options for lunch around Paris?

I enjoy reading your blog as often as possible. We are an American couple with an apartment near Paris who are here about 5 months a year in the Spring and Fall.

By the way, do you know what has happened to the blog inparisnow where you have frequently appeared in the past? They seem to have frozen in time on Nov. 20. Is someone on vacation, ill, or otherwise indisposed that usually manages that blog?

A big fan,
Bob

Thanks for the kind remarks, Bob. I have no intention of eating at Subway myself; I find it hard to believe that they can survive here with that bad bread.

Laurie has migrated the site. You can find it at www.theparisblog.com.

I find it unbelievable that Subway, McDonalds, KFC, et al, can succeed in France. The fact that they not only succeed, but thrive, indicates they are not serving the same stuff they serve in the US. My guess would be that Subway uses French bread for their sandwiches in France. Of course, France (especially Paris) is becoming more Americanized every day, so who knows.

Wow, that is perfect product placement!
I can tell you the taste is the same as in the US (I ate here a bit during my single girl days back in the Latin Quarter) although the picture of the sandwich won't make anyone want to try it.
Let's put it this way - I'm glad my Subway days are over and I've moved on to "finer" fast food sandwhiches from LeNotre.
