Lost Soles

Awhile back, I started working on a post about the stray things I've seen on the sidewalk in Paris -- a chair that looked like it had been used in a bar fight, a dozen smashed eggs, three abandoned TVs -- but it just fizzled out and went nowhere.

And then the other day, I saw this:

And then this:

Who knew that old shoes could possess such poetry?

Wow, they must have been moving really fast.

I note they're men's shoes. Women tend to be more attached to theirs; I try to find homes for mine when I'm through with them, if only at Goodwill.

I was crossing Pont Mirabeau the other day and on the construction barricade running down the middle of the street there sat a 4" black platform high-heeled shoe. The men working on the bridge must have found it on the street and set it there. It's impossible not to wonder about the story behind lost & abandoned items, isn't it? It made a great photo lined up with the Eiffel Tower behind it--similar shape.
