Paris Vu Du Ciel

Some months back, I caught the latest series of aerial photographs of Paris by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, perhaps best known for his epic work, Home, at the Musee Marmottan. I was awestruck and would have bought the book on the spot had it been available. Now just in time for the holidays, the book is out, at least in France and also I noticed on Amazon's Canadian site. Fair warning: this coffee table book is pretty much the size of a small coffee table and it's pretty pricey too. But the photos are absolutely incredible, making it the perfect gift for your favorite Francophile. Look for the cover image you see here. There is also a 2002 version with a picture of Notre Dame on the cover; I'm sure the photos are just as delectable but I can't vouch for it.

There is another book in which you might be interested, titled "Above Paris". It is cover to cover with fantastic pictures of Paris. See it here: http://www.amazon.com/Above-Paris-Pierre-Salinger/dp/0918684196

Last year I went broke as I had to have the Diane Arbus retrospective book from the NY Met.

My mouth is watering for this book and I haven't even seen the work of Arthus-Bertrand.
You had me at Francophile.

My boyfriend had the privilege of teaching English to Yann Arthus-Bertrand a few years back. The photographer gifted him a signed copy of the book "Paris: d'hier et d'aujourd'hui" also with photographs by Roger Henrard and text by Caroline Haardt de la Baume. It is one of my boyfriend's treasures and a very cool book.

The book you describe sounds incredible!

Yeah, as for more arial photos for me, I am going to have to satisfy myself with free Google Map satellite views this holiday, lol.

My boyfriend brought this back from France for my Christmas gift. It is magical! Especially because, to me, being in Paris feels like I'm floating.
