Paying Tribute
The scene early yesterday morning at one of the entrances to the Polish embassy. The gate was to open about an hour later for those wishing to sign the book of condolences. It's almost unimaginable that a country could lose so much of its political and intellectual leadership in the blink of an eye, compounding a hundredfold the tragedy they had set out to commemorate.

It is just so tragic - and the president's daughter lost her whole immediate family. Poor girl has to do all of this alone and in the spotlight.
My husband is of Polish and Russian background ...this is a very sad event...our hearts go out the the Polish and Russian people who have faced so much tragedy over the years...very sad.
thanks for the picture Anne
This is a very touching photo. I'm glad people are showing their support this way here in Paris. I really feel for the nation of Poland. So tough, as your other commenters point out. *sigh*
Tragic.
Very sad! Beautiful photo. . . wish I could be there to leave some flowers, too.
