Study in Contrasts
Ah Paris: at once beautiful and grimy, luxurious and down at the heels. And truly, when you've got a little Chanel No. 5 behind your ears, you should have the confidence not to care that your sweater is stained and your stockings are nothing but ladders.

Great creative writing! Fits the photo beautifully.
This doesn't look like the best place in the city to be advertising Chanel.
Hi Anne. I've enjoyed your blog for a while, but haven't commented until now.
Your post reminds me of my last trip to Paris. I took the RER/Metro to my hotel instead of taking a taxi so I could save the 60 Euro to buy...Chanel No. 5. I was doing soooo well until the very last escalator up when my suitcase tipped and I tipped with it, skidding head-first down the escalator and scraping my elbow and hip and getting a nice escalator-burn mark on my rear end.
But I was not defeated! I took my bruised and torn and battered self right to Galeries Lafayette and I bought that well-deserved Chanel No. 5.
Study in contrasts indeed.
Thanks for your lovely blog!
Amy: Sounds like you deserved that bottle of perfume!
Starman: That's the thing about Paris. This was taken in a very nice neighborhood...it's just that even nice neighborhoods have some incredibly dingy corners.
